Legal notice: This page is informational only and not legal advice. Florida’s rules are subject to change. Always verify on the Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU) and Florida Statutes linked below. See our Legal Disclaimer & No-Warranty and Terms of Use.
What Florida Allows (High Level)
- Medical program only. Florida operates a state medical marijuana framework administered by the Florida Department of Health’s OMMU. Adult-use (recreational) is not authorized by state law.
- Qualified patients & physicians. Patients must be certified by a qualified physician and appear in the Medical Marijuana Use Registry before purchasing from Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers (MMTCs).
- Rules change. Routes of administration, product forms, physician certification standards, and MMTC rules are governed by statute and administrative rules—check the official links below before acting.

Practical Notes
- No federal protection. Federal law still prohibits cannabis. Do not carry onto federal property or across state/national borders. See United States (Federal & State Overview).
- Driving/DUIC. Florida impaired-driving rules apply. Check your local law-enforcement and DMV guidance and avoid driving under the influence.
- Keep records. Maintain your registry and physician documents; comply with MMTC and labeling rules.
